Author Spotlight on Danielle N. Thornewell

Welcome to our Author Spotlight, where we shine a light on writers, authors and literary wonders from all over the world.

Today our spotlight is shining on Danielle N. Thornewell, author of The Mems series and creator of Bijou - The Smallest of the Gods, a mythology based activity book for children.

1. First, tell us a little about your book/project?

My most current two books are very special to me. The first is "The Mems: Return to the Hidden World" which is part two in the series "The Mems". This is something I have been working on for a very long time. After writing part one I got away from writing for many years and now I have finally made time to do something that I greatly missed. It is a series that I plan on continuing in the near future. The second book "Bijou - The Smallest of the Gods" is a mythology based children's activity book that was written while I was taking a semester in Mythology while in college to complete my Associates in Office System Technology. It is a book that teaches colors, numbers, and gives children a place to create their own works of art.

2. What kind of research did you do and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?

My books are complete fantasy so all of my "research" comes from my imagination. This is why I love these types of stories because I can create a world that is totally unique and all my own.

3. If you could tell your younger writing self one thing, what would it be?

Never give up on your dream of writing. It may be hard, but it will be worth it.

4. Can you tell us a bit about your writing space? Is there something you need to have when writing a book?

I started writing as a child and I would always write in pencil in a spiral notebook. That has carried over to my writing now. I always start by writing the story in a spiral notebook in pencil. Only when the story is complete do I type up the manuscript on my desktop computer.

5. If you could be a character from any book for 24hours, who would you be?

I would have to pick the main character from my current book "The Mems". She is such a brave girl that goes on unbelievable adventures to mystical lands. Who wouldn't love to journey to a hidden village just on the other side of a magic portal?

You can find Danielle online on her Instagram and all of her books can be found on Amazon.
